Fair trade changes people's lives, but equally importantly, it helps people understand the need to challenge the fundamental relationships of international trade. It has a vital role to play in building the campaign for Trade Justice, which campaigns to change global trade rules.
People from Faringdon have also been actively involved in Trade Justice national campaigns. The mass lobby of parliament in the summer of 2002, where a record 12,000 people descended on their MPs at the House of commons, was followed in the summer of 2003 by individual lobbies of MPs in their own constituencies. See for example: Our MP - Robert Jackson grappling with giant bananas and fairtrade scales.
